Providing $1,000 annual to help college students meet the rising costs of higher education
The attorneys of Zavodnick, Zavodnick & Lasky, LLC understand the financial strains that can accompany obtaining a college degree. For this reason, our firm is pleased to offer a $1,000 college scholarship to the winner of our bi-annual essay contest. Details regarding the contest and the applications procedure can be found below.
The 2017 essay contest
In order to participate, applicants must be currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited United States college or university in the near future and should write a 500-word essay responding to the following question:
If an employee is involved in an activity like a company softball game, a company dodge ball game, or any other company related extracurricular activity with the company and they are hurt, should they be eligible for worker’s compensation? Why or why not?
Responses will be evaluated based upon the following criteria:
- The quality of the writing
- The thoughtfulness of the response
- The applicant’s demonstrated potential for success in their chosen field of study
Once the application period is closed, the submissions will be reviewed by the firm and 5 finalists will be chosen based on the criteria listed above. The finalists will be notified by email on or around 06/05/2017.
The top 5 essays will be put on our website, in the public, and put up for a social media voting. Please be aware that your essay will be made public. The winner is based on who gets the most Facebook “Likes” by 9am PST on 6/15/17.
In order to be eligible to participate, applicants need to be currently enrolled in or actively applying to a college or graduate program.
